Porsche Encounter
We’ve been having an unusual beautiful October here in Seattle. This past week has been low 70s and sunny.
With the great weather I’ve been driving the car to work quite often. The car gets a lot of attention when it’s out. Mostly, it’s good, thumbs ups from other drivers and little kids yelling at me to rev it up at stop signs. I can’t lie, I usually oblige.
On the commute home, I came across a gorgeous 911 Carera 3.0. Mid 70s, primetime Porsche. It wasn’t immaculate, it was a driver. The patina, it tells stories of the car being enjoyed. The driver was an older gentleman, maybe early 50s.
As I passed him, I gave him a thumbs up. He returned the favor. In one of the 520 tunnels, he dropped a gear and made some glorious noise. On the next tunnel I returned the favor. As I let off, the gen3 3sgte spat out one of its token fireballs. I saw the Porsche driver laugh in my rear view. As he got off his exit he gave a big wave.
That was a truly great moment, so glad I drove my car today. Just respect an admiration for each other. Mild to wild. No racing, no ego, just having a bit of fun.
This is the only pic I got of his car, but the moment was really memorable.
